The Student Challenge winners were in Brussels on March 13 2019 to meet Commissioner Vestager and receive their prizes. They gave us their views on competition policy and enforcement and what it means to them in the videos below:

Guillaume, Rossi, Oriane and David started the day with a meeting with the special advisers appointed by Commissioner Vestager to look into the future challenges of digitisation for competition policy: Jacques Crémer, Heike Schweitzer and Yves-Alexandre de Montjoye (from left to right).
Lunch was at Brussel’s Madou Tower, home of DG Competition, with a few officials.
In the afternoon the four winners met Commissioner Vestager, who handed out their diplomas.

A discussion on competition control in the digital age followed.
And a hearty laugh closed the day.
Background
The Student Challenge invited university students interested in competition policy to submit abstracts on the topics discussed on January 17. The question was: “What would you have talked about if you had been a speaker at the conference?”
We received 80 abstracts from 19 countries, including seven countries from outside the EU. A jury of DG Competition officials shortlisted the 12 best abstracts. 1968 people took part in the popular vote that picked the four winners – one for each panel discussion.
