Approved IPCEIs in the Health ecosystem

Two IPCEIs in the health ecosystem have been launched. These IPCEIs include 24 projects from 23 companies in 7 Member States including up to €1,4 billion state aid which is supposed to elicit more than €6,7 billion of additional private investment.

IPCEI Med4Cure

On 28 May 2024, the European Commission approved IPCEI Med4Cure. A total of 13 companies from six Member States (Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia and Spain) are participating in this IPCEI with 14 projects.

This IPCEI will notably contribute to European Health Union’s objectives by delivering innovations addressing diseases for which there are no satisfactory means of prevention or treatment and by increasing the EU’s preparedness for emerging health threats.

The six Member States will provide up to €1 billion in public funding in the coming years, which is expected to unlock an additional €5,9 billion in private investments.

IPCEI Tech4Cure

On 22 July 2025, the European Commission approved the Important Project of Common European Interest (‘IPCEI’) Tech4Cure. A total of 10 companies from five Member States (France, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia) are participating in this IPCEI with 10 projects.

This is the second health-related IPCEI. It will support cross-border research and innovation and the first industrial deployment of medical devices with advanced and novel digital/AI solutions to support the concept of predictive, preventive, and personalised medicine (‘3P medicine’).

The five Member States will provide up to €403 million in public funding in the coming years, which is expected to unlock an additional €826 million in private investments.
