Targeted consultation on the ex-post evaluation of the 2014 Aviation Guidelines

Policy field

Competition: State aid

Target group

This consultation will be open to the general public. Member States, airports, airlines and related associations are in particular welcome to contribute.

Consultation period

From 24.05.2019 to 31.07.2019

Objective of the consultation

In January 2019, the European Commission announced its intention to prolong seven sets of State aid rules for a period of two years and launched a comprehensive policy evaluation in the area of State aid (“Fitness Check”). Part of this exercise is the evaluation of the State aid rules in the aviation sector, namely the 2014 Aviation Guidelines (Communication from the Commission - Guidelines on State aid to airports and airlines) and the relevant rules under the General Block Exemption Regulation (Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1084 of 14 June 2017 amending Regulation (EU) No 651/2014 as regards aid for port and airport infrastructure).
Objective of this targeted consultation is to gather stakeholder opinions on the application of the current State aid rules to reflect if they are still fit for purpose.
