An old fresco for a modern debate

Lorenzetti_Effects-in-Country

In 1337, the government of Siena in central Italy asked the painter Ambrogio Lorenzetti to depict its political manifesto and idea of governance. Over the next two years, Lorenzetti would paint a cycle of frescoes on the walls of the hall where the city rulers met.
