Signing of the Memorandum on regional cooperation in Warsaw

DG COMP welcomes the initiative of competition authorities of eight Member States (Poland, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia) and between those authorities and the competition authorities of the newest candidate countries Moldova and Ukraine to enter into a ‘Memorandum of regional cooperation in the field of competition policy’. This is a tangible effort to enhance the regional cooperation between the national competition authorities and boost enforcement efforts in the region.

The Commission warmly supports the creation of regional fora to exchange experience on competition policy and enforcement and especially appreciates that this is an inclusive cooperation, open to everyone from the international competition community who wants to be involved. We commend the generosity and willingness of Member State’s competition authorities to share their knowledge and experience with the competition authorities of Moldova and Ukraine and the competition authorities of Moldova and Ukraine for their engagement and commitment to continue the good efforts already made to strengthen their efficiency and effectiveness.

Now more than ever such initiatives are necessary to bring Moldova and Ukraine closer to the EU and support them in their European path.
